NEO is the world’s first consumer-ready humanoid robot designed to transform life at home. It automates everyday chores and offers personalized assistance, allowing people to spend more time on what matters. NEO features intuitive, user-friendly capabilities, including task automation, personalized intelligence, and autonomous operation, making it a safe and capable companion in the home.
The company describes NEO as “a robot built to give people their time back.”
According to the company, NEO can perform routine household tasks such as folding laundry, watering plants, and tidying rooms. Users can schedule chores through an app or by speaking directly to NEO.
For more complex tasks, human experts at 1X can supervise sessions remotely, helping NEO learn and complete them in real time. Each interaction improves the robot’s performance through ongoing software updates.
NEO is equipped with a built-in large language model and 1X’s proprietary Redwood AI system, giving it the ability to hold natural conversations and understand its surroundings.
It can recognize when it’s being spoken to, remember previous conversations, and use visual data to respond intelligently, such as suggesting meals based on visible ingredients or helping with to-do lists.
At launch, NEO will be capable of basic household assistance like fetching items, opening doors, and turning off lights. Over time, its autonomy will evolve, with its AI learning from user interactions and real-world data to expand what it can do.
Built with 1X’s patented Tendon Drive System, NEO uses tensioned cables and compact motors to achieve smooth, low-energy motion. Weighing 66 pounds (30 kilograms), it can lift up to 150 pounds (68 kilograms) and carry 55 pounds (25 kilograms), while operating at just 22 decibels, quieter than most household appliances.
Its hands feature 22 degrees of freedom for human-level dexterity, and the entire body is wrapped in soft polymers designed for safety.
Visually, NEO is minimalist and home-friendly, dressed in a machine-washable knit suit with customizable shoes and neutral tones including Tan, Gray, and Dark Brown.
Early access units are priced at $20,000, with a $499 per month subscription model planned for later. 1X expects deliveries to begin in the U.S. in 2026, expanding internationally in 2027.
